Lori L. Guzmán is the founder of Guzmán Law Firm, P.A. She is a magna cum laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law and received her B.A. summa cum laude from the University of St. Thomas. Ms. Guzmán is also employed as an adjunct professor in clinical programs at William Mitchell College of Law where she supervises the Tax Planning Clinic.
Ms. Guzmán serves on the Governing Council of the Elder Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association and served two consecutive terms as Chair of the Council in 2003 and 2004. She is the current Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee of the MSBA Elder Law Section. Ms. Guzmán is a former appointed member of the Minnesota Department of Human Services Medicaid Advisory Committee and was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Minnesota’s Early Intervention Committee (for persons with disabilities) where she served as Chair for several years. Ms. Guzmán also has served on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations that support persons with disabilities and their families.
Ms. Guzmán focuses her practice primarily in the areas of disability and elder law, guardianship and conservatorship law, estate planning, probate and trust litigation and administration, supplemental and special needs trusts, tax planning and tax-exempt organizations.
